Piano tuning and service for Bösendorfer, Yamaha, Disklavier, Silent and Hybrid pianos
I'm Ryan Ellison, a Registered Piano Technician with ten years of hands-on experience, including Yamaha, Disklavier and Bösendorfer pianos. I tune and care for pianos in homes, schools, studios and churches across Orange County, Riverside and the Gateway Cities.

Constellation figures: d3-celestial by Olaf Frohn (BSD 3-Clause); stars from the Hipparcos catalogue. The inner ring is the celestial equator; each map reaches 30 degrees past it.
36 and 52. A piano has 36 black keys and 52 white keys. The sky has 88 modern constellations, 36 in the northern sky and 52 in the southern. Here every black key is a northern constellation and every white key a southern one, ordered by declination: the lowest white key is Octans at the south pole, and the highest black key is Ursa Minor, home of Polaris. Tap a key and its constellation lights up in the sky map.
88 keys, 88 constellations
The 88 piano keys make music.
A piano has 88 keys. The sky has 88 official constellations. Tyson sets them side by side and jokes that the sky's side is a zoo. In 1619, Johannes Kepler wrote Harmonices Mundi, "The Harmony of the World," arguing the planets moved in musical ratios. He never proved the planets sing, but the book gave us his third law of planetary motion.
Every piano I tune is my small attempt at harmony.
